HVAC Insurance Group is the part of The Allen Thomas Group that works only with heating, cooling and refrigeration businesses. We're an independent agency, in business since 2003, licensed in 28 states and working with 12+ A-rated carriers.
An agency that speaks HVAC
HVAC Insurance Group exists because HVAC contractors kept running into the same problem: insurance built for "contractors" in general, sold by people who couldn't tell a heat pump from a hot water heater. Your work has its own risks. You put combustion equipment into people's homes. You braze inside wall cavities. You climb onto commercial roofs in August and crawl through attics in July. You carry refrigerant, expensive test gear and somebody else's brand-new condenser in your vans.
We built this brand of The Allen Thomas Group around those risks. Every page on this site, every question on our quote form and every conversation with our licensed team starts from how HVAC work actually happens, from the one-truck independent tech to the commercial mechanical contractor with a fleet.
Independent, which means we work for you
An independent agency isn't an insurance company, and it isn't tied to one. We don't issue policies. We place them with carriers, compare what each one offers for your kind of work, and explain the differences in plain language.
Our roster runs past a dozen insurers rated A- (Excellent) or better by AM Best, from national names like Chubb and Travelers to regional carriers. Not every carrier writes in every state or wants every kind of HVAC account, which is exactly why having a dozen-plus options matters. See our carriers
What you can expect from us
Questions that fit your work
Our quote form asks what an HVAC underwriter will ask: residential or commercial, install or service, how many techs and whether they're EPA certified. That saves you a round of follow-up calls.
A licensed agent, not a chatbot
A real person on our licensed team reviews your answers and talks with you before anything is quoted. We don't promise instant quotes because good ones aren't instant.
Straight talk about exclusions
We'll point out what a policy leaves out, such as completed operations limits, pollution wording or work by subcontractors, before you sign, not after a claim.
Service after the sale
If you're a client, certificates for the coverage you already have go out the same day, and help with audits, new vans, new hires and contract reviews as the shop grows.
